Being plus size at water parks, pool parties, and other summertime events where baring it all in swimsuits is the standard can make you think long and hard about our bodies and how they will be received. Even as a plus size blogger and one that encourages body positivity, I would be lying if I don’t have little thoughts here and there about my body in very public situations like water parks and poolsides.
I nipped kicked the worries of being plus size at water parks right in the ass on my recent vacation to Tampa Florida. I received complimentary tickets to Adventure Island and brought the fam along for all the fun. In the midst of enjoying all the fun rides like Colossal Curl (our favorite) and lazing in the Lazy River, I thought up 4 tips to being plus size at water parks just like Adventure Island.
Being Plus Size at Water Parks with Confidence
Confidence in Numbers
Water parks in general are way more fun with friends and I highly recommend grabbing one of your friends to keep the experience focused on Fun. It’s easier to be unbothered when you’re having fun with people you care for around you, I came with my fam and brought the curves times two…keep reading 😉 . During my time at Adventure Island I was excited to see many squads of curvy friends living their best lives completely unbothered by their bodies. Exactly how it’s suppose to be.

No Cover Ups
Cover ups can cause damage to floats, the slides themselves, and snag you mid slide. They will tell you to remove cover ups that aren’t in compliance with their rules. On my recent trip a curvy girl wearing denim shorts over her two piece had to remove hers after much negotiation from her boyfriend with an employee, but eventually she took it off. She had nothing to worry about by the way absolutely gorgeous in every way. Last time I visited i had to remove my mesh tank top that I was using to cover up my belly because I was wearing a two piece as well. So just know that this will happen and decide that you’re going to bare it all from now. What will help you to not worry about cover ups is to find a suit that you’d want to flex in the whole time.
A Suit That You’re Here For
So without a cover up, you might as well make sure that the swimsuit you choose has you feeling yourself 100%. My mom and I “brand twinned” in Torrid swimsuits for our stay at Adventure Island. While my Torrid Chevron two piece bikini is an oldie (very similar here) it’s one of my best fitting swimsuits that keeps the girls up and my tummy supported. I get a lot of questions about this swimsuit whenever I wear it an this day at the waterpark was no different. My mom’s Torrid floral ruffled swimsuit (see here) was a new release from Torrid. She was here for the yellow color that is in now and the tropical vibe of the red floral print. Her suit had me at ruffles.

Mode IDGAF
Now it’s time to keep it 100. At the end of the day, you need to activate mode “IDGAF” when it comes to what your body, what you choose to put on it, and who gives what about either of the latter. Anybody’s problem with your body is just that, THEIR problem! Boop!
So all in all I hope you feel encouraged to just do you! Overall the vibes at Adventure Island was very fun and carefree. Everyone was in full fledged vacation mode and there were positive vibes all the way around.
Thanks so much to Sea World Parks & Entertainment for the complimentary tickets, the screams, laughs, and overall fun during our stay at Adventure Island!
