1. Add Height
Dressers and chests of drawers usually come up to about waist level and against a bare wall it can look very bland. It looks even more strange if you have higher ceilings. Use decor items like large art pieces or mirrors to draw the eye upward from the dresser.
2. Add a Table Lamp
Light up your newly styled dresser with a unique lamp that ties in with your rooms aesthetic and expresses your personality. A lamp that’s about half the size of the tallest decor items on your dresser helps to level everything out. I highly recommend checking out the thrift stores if you haven’t found a lamp that speaks specifically to your personality. I found this lamp in the thrift store and it was originally brown. The texture caught my eye and I immediately imagined it in a white color. I added gold dots of acrylic paint and a new lamp shade to tie it in with the warm vibe of the space.
3. Set The Mood
You can change the whole mood of a room without constantly changing up the decor on your dresser. The answer is scent! Switch out your favorite candles with varying fragrances depending on the situation. Use a candle holders and sleeves for candles that don’t necessarily with the style of your bedroom dresser.
4. Functional Decor
After a week of wearing different jewelry of shades of lipstick it’s easy to end up with an overcrowded dresser top. Adding functional decor like flatter straw baskets, glass plates or even a tray is the solution. They’re beautiful but they are also functional in that they help to keep small items confined to one space. I also find that it pushes me to put stuff back when I realize I’ve collected a few things over the week.

5. Things That Add Interest or Bring Joy
Adding special decor pieces or trinkets that bring you joy is another way to style a bedroom dresser. My top three recommendations are small framed personal photos, framed art prints, or decor items that intrigues you in some way. I thrifted this memory glass orb at the thrift store and I’m completely mesmerized by it. It looks even more hypnotic when all the individual bubbles are lit from my table lamp. If it makes you smile, draws your eye, or your attention it’s probably a good piece to style a bedroom dresser with.
