Hey y’all it’s been a minute since I’ve done any natural hair product reviews, but here we go. I recently received Carols Daughter Coco Creme Review (c/o Carols Daughter) and had to give it a try. When I do reviews I typically try out the products a few times to have a solid opinion on them to share with you. I’ve been using these products since last year so it’s about that time.
Carols Daughter Coco Créme Collection Review for 4c Natural Hair
I feel like this Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Curl Quenching Shampoo is leveling up the expectation of a shampoo just cleansing your scalp. This shampoo is very creamy like a conditioner, and it allowed me to finger detangle clumped strands with ease. It also left my hair feeling moisturized and not super stripped.
The Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Curl Quenching Conditioner was another hit in my opinion. If your hair is washed regularly and moisturized, you may not need to deep condition every single wash day session. Using the conditioner is good all by itself after washing. This conditioner did an excellent job of softening my hair for easy detangling and left my hair incredibly moisturized.
The Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Curl Quenching Masque Deep Moisture Mask has to be my favorite product from the whole line. Then again I just have a thing for deep conditioners. I definitely can see why velvet is in the name because my hair felt soft just like it. It had a great consistency, and smell (as did all the products from this line).
Speaking of smell, I was worried that the products would have a really strong coconut smell, but it didn’t smell like coconuts at all. They all smell like baked goods which made me super hungry, but I digress.
Last but not least I tried the Carol’s Daughter Coil Enhancing Moisture Butter. When I first tried this product I had a complete fail. My hair was full of white residue that only looked worse once I unraveled my twists. Here’s why! The product directions says that it should be used on WET HAIR only. There’s not a single sentence in there that says anything about use on dry hair. If you use it on dry hair, you’ll be left with a white residue all over your strands. So sis please don’t be like me slapping products in your hair without reading the instructions. There’s also no need to be heavy handed with this product at all. A little bit on the tip of my finger was enough for one quadrant of my head.
Quick Tips: Start with a little bit of product and work it in until it disappears. Then add a bit more if you need more. It’s always better to start with a little than a huge dollop. You can stroke your twists with wet hands to get rid of any residue you might come across.
My twist out lasted a total of 5 days. At night I did 5 – 6 chunky braids (for a stretched and defined fro) and slept in a satin bonnet. Your twist outs could actually last longer. It really depends on how much fluffing and separating you do on day one and how you maintain the style.
This collection is a pretty solid set of products for natural hair. If you like to wash, condition, and style your wet hair fresh out the shower, I definitely recommend this for you.
Enough words. Ha! The proof is in the fro. Check out my 4c Hair Wash Day video using the entire Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Line below.
