I’ve been hmmm-ing and haaa-ing about the fact that it’s not fall yet for weeks! This 100 degree weather is taking a Hot Girl Summer too literal and way too far. So from the comfort of places with AC, I’ve been defining my fall style ahead of the upcoming season. After decluttering and organizing my closet before my big move, I now have a clear idea of the types of clothing that I seem to love more than others. So with that in mind I was able to narrow down what I’ll be shopping for. But first…
Why Is It a Good Idea to Create a Fall Style Mood Board?
(or any season mood board for that matter)
- It ensures you’ll get the most use out of the pieces you invest in.
- It minimizes your chances of impulse buying. Yes! That new release your favorite brand just dropped is cute, it’s not something you’re going to wear time and time again. Imagine all the money that’ll be saved if we decreased impulse buying.
- I mean if you love pinning, then it’s a hell of a fun time!
Blazers
Blazers are so crucial to my fall style this season. There’s nothing like a blazer to level up an outfit and show that you mean business, even on a casual jeans Friday. I’m most looking forward to finding a classic black blazer and possibly a mustard yellow blazer for a pop of autumnal color.
Sweaters and Long Sleeve Tops
I’m really digging long sleeve tops with fun prints and interesting details like puffed sleeves and pussy bows.
This the year that I’m throwing caution to the wind when it comes to sweaters. However, I’m specifically looking for oversized sweaters to wear with leggings (we’ll get into leggings as pants later) and sweaters that’ll look good for work and anywhere else.
Bottoms
I’m pretty good when it comes to bottoms, but I am interested in a few denim trends for fall. My height may present a challenge, but I’m interested in finding some cute flared jeans. I also want some cuffed boyfriend jeans that’ll work well with sneakers and boots.
A jumpsuit / boilersuit is also on the list (when is it never on my list…ha). I recently sold my one of my jumpsuits on my Poshmark closet and I have my eyes peeled for a replacement. I’m looking forward to finding one that stands out and is able to be dressed up or down with pieces I already have in my wardrobe.
Dresses
I don’t plan on rocking a ton of dresses in fall, but when I do it’s probably going to be a midi or maxi dress in a fun print. I’m thinking animal prints and patchwork prints. Maxi sweater dresses like the ones I pinned on my Fall style mood board on Pinterest are definitely going to be in the mix too!
Sneakers Vs Boots
I’ve been turning into a little sneaker head as of late. I’ve been wearing more classic sneakers like Reeboks, Vans, and Adidas than anything else this summer and I’m carrying that right on into fall. White boots were so much fun to wear last fall and I’m keeping that in my arsenal as well. I’m also looking for some boots that are “combatty” but are still super femme in comparison to a traditional combat boot! Western boots also have my attention and I’m hunting for some classic black ones that’ll work with everything I could possibly style this fall!
