any of my photos I’m a shorty and proud of it! When it comes to shopping for my fun sized 5’3” I usually have good times…with a few exceptions. I kinda touched on this recently on Twitter when I had my heart crushed by a brand that I love. They had the nerve to come out with a dress that I really just had to have. I ordered, waited for it to arrive, immediately tried it on and guess what? It was ridiculously too long. A brief Twitter rant ensued on how hard it is to find clothing that is plus size petite-friendly at the same time! My fellow blogger Ashley recommended that I try the Lane Bryant Petite section. Lane Bryant also co-signed that I should definitely get into it so I gave it a shot!
Plus Size Petite Struggles
My biggest style woes with being plus size and petite are pants (particularly wide leg pants and jumpsuits), maxi skirts, and maxi dresses. I definitely wanted to get a maxi dress for starters and came across this gorgeous off the shoulder maxi dress. Funny enough the dress that was too long was also a polka dot dress.
I actually love this more because of the ruffle hem that is also “in” this season. The mix of print scales on the hem definitely had me sold when I ordered it.
To set the dress I decided to add a pop of red with these retro cat-eye sunglasses (similar style here) and this classic red satchel from A New Day.
This Plus Size Petite Maxi Dress Tho!
The final test was to try it on and see if Lane Bryant Petites section is indeed plus and petite friendly. So I took off my shoes just to show y’all! Voila! No train of fabric dragging anywhere. Success!
The dress also is very much true to size. It hangs on my booty body 🙂 so perfectly! I’ll definitely be wearing this dress all through the summer and shoot, maybe into fall!
Wishful Thinking for Lane Bryant Petites
I need more of everything! Jumpsuits, maxi dresses, and specifically these jeans with the ruffle hem.
