Roll tuck and pin natural hairstyles are by far one of the most elegant styles you can create on your own natural hair. With all the beautiful swoops of natural hair looking like they’re woven, it’s no wonder some naturals get intimidated by these intricate styles. However, as time consuming and intricate as they appear to be, they are actually really easy to create on your own.
Here is a recent roll tuck and pin style that I created with products from Kinky Tresses.
FAQs on Roll Tuck and Pin Natural Hairstyles
Blow Dry or Nah?
It really depends on the look you’re going for. Roll Tuck and Pins can be created with textured natural hair or hair that has been blown out or pressed. I typically blow out my hair using the tension method and style my hair in roll tuck and pins until I’m ready to move on to another natural hairstyle.
Do You Need Skills?
With everything you work towards, practice definitely makes better. Thankfully roll tuck and pins styles give you the freedom of creating styles that are unique to what you make them. Don’t ever think that your style has to look EXACTLY like someone else’s.
The Technique?
There are so many different techniques, but the easiest technique is as simple as twisting. Take each section, twist the ends, and pin in the direction you want that section to go. The twisting technique adds a swoop that looks like it took more effort than it did.
How Long Do They Last?
Similar to the longevity of any other hairstyle, that really depends on how well you take care of it. You can use hairsprays with hold for longer lasting styles. I keep my roll tuck and pin natural hairstyles in a satin bonnet. When I switch up my style they take 3-6 minutes to recreate.
