Summer is right around the corner and you know what that means? It’s going to be hot. 🙂 That’s the truth, but it also means you’re about to be flooded with box braids, faux locs,and so many other protective styles all across your social media. So why not kick it off with something ridiculously affordable and easy to do like these crochet twists I knocked out in 3 hours for less than $10.
Exhibit A, B, & C all the way to Z
These crochet twists cost me a total of $8 dollars. Like Drake I tell no lies (well in his “No Lies” song at least). I purchased 6 packs of Sensationnel Samba Twists crochet twists for a total of $12, but I only ended up using 4 packs. If you don’t have a big calabash of a noggin like me then you might even use less.
Wait lady! Explain the $8 price for these bomb crochet twists please?
Of course! I purchased this hair from Samsbeauty.com on a Buy One Get One Free Deal. The price at the time for each pack was 3.99. So when you calculate it all the four packs that I used cost $8 total! Samsbeauty typically has this hair in a BOGO free deal, but the price fluctuates between 3.99 and 4.99.
The “catch”?
I honestly think the reason this hair is so inexpensive is because of it’s really frizzy texture (as you’ll see in the video). However, your “trash” or “treasure” perception of this hair is really dependent on the look you’re going for. I really love the look of old, frizzy extensions, but I don’t always want to wait for my style to get that phase. Usually by the time it gets to that phase I’m ready to move on to the next style. So yeah. It’s all about the vibe and style you’re going for with this hair.
How long will it last?
It really depends on how well you take care of the style. If you tie it down nightly, then it just might could last for 3-4 weeks, but if you’re reckless and sleeping on it with no bonnet (*raises hand) then 2 -3 weeks.
Overall I really loved the style and just might buy two more packs to get ready to install it in the summer. It definitely gives me the grunge, idgaf, “I’m a Boss Like Rihanna” vibe that I love to drown my self in from time to time. 🙂
