Sweater weather is definitely upon us and the sweater style game has already started. If you’re here you want the goods and thats a plus size sweater guide. I know how it is to be searching site after site for the perfect pieces that speak to you. So this plus size sweater shopping guide gathers them all in one place for your convenience. As sweaters sell out (and they will), I’ll update this guide with new releases all the way into spring. The three major categories in this guide are statement sweaters, basic plus size sweaters, and cardigans (because they’re just sweaters that open…right?).

Hey y’all! I’m so glad to be partnering with Catherines again to share with you this plus size midi dress for fall that is so00 me in a nutshell. If you don’t know, I’m a huge fan of black clothing. As much as I’ve burst out of the all black everything mood, it’s still a look that I always fall back on from time to time. Now I do it with a twist

“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.” —Oscar de la Renta
This quote really resonates with me because I really believe that you can have all the designer stuff, the latest this, and the exclusive that, but style is not something that you can buy. The everyday me is casual, but in most cases with a little something extra to express my sense of style. That’s just what I wanted to bring to New York Fashion Week and anywhere I go. For this look I took some thrifted (similar here) jeans and a tshirt from ASOS and leveled it up just a bit with two accessories.
Let’s be honest the suede fringe jacket is the star of this look and effortlessly added all the extra that this otherwise minimalistic jeans and tshirt combo needed. I’ve been obsessing about ugly sneakers aka dad sneakers for a minute and finally dived in with these Puma Electric Thunders. The little brown and orange accents on the sneaks tied in with the jacket and the red graphic on the tee nicely. If you like the look of dad sneakers, but want some that aren’t too “out there” these Puma Electric Thunders are great pair to start with (see more pretty dad sneakers here).

It’s defnitely time to start bringing out all my sweaters, sweater dresses, and oversized things that I love to wear in chillier weather. Although I love a good non-clingy outfit, I find that I love the look better with a defined waist at least. Wide waist belts are definitely a great way to do just that. I’ve been wearing this wide waist belt from ASOS with practically all tops and dresses that fit me loosely. Now that I finding myself wanting to wear it with everything, it’s time to start shopping for a few more options to switch things up.

One huge trend for this fall and winter season are statement sweaters. I’m so glad that it is because it’s the perfect way to be basic without looking basic. As it gets colder I’m pretty sure I’ll be going the leggings or skinny pant route, paired with tops that are going to actually keep me warm. With statement sweaters you get a practical cozy top that still has a whole lot of style.
I kicked of my statement sweaters swag with this ruffle sleeved sweater from the Who What Wear collection. The huge ruffle sleeves add a level of style to my look without trying to hard. I recently wore it with a leopard print skirt, wide waist belt, and ankle boots for chic office look. It can easily be dressed down with some denim and sneaks, but thanks to the sleeves any look would be far from basic.
I’m even more excited for this statement sweaters trend because it’s not often that plus size girls get all the cute stuff that you find in straight sizes. Seriously, plus size girls want to look fly at all times too. So if you want to get in on this statement sweater trend here are some of my favorite statement sweaters. I’ve already purchased three of them from this list so look out for upcoming style posts as well.

Lately I’ve been feeling adventurous with my style and not necessarily taking fashion rules, do’s, don’ts, too seriously. Fashion should be fun and make me feel great. I would rather leave my home fully confident in my outfit of choice versus wondering if I even styled this right. Often times I catch myself pausing in thought as I’m getting dressed in something I’ve planned days ahead. Lately I’ve been more conscious of that pause which is mostly the result of doubting and overthinking and deciding to push past it. So when I pause and overthink, I rebel against it by wearing the initial outfit idea anyways.
That’s basically what I did with this strapless jumpsuit and off the shoulder combo. I was looking for an outfit to wear to see the movie “IT” with the fam, with this Who What Wear off the shoulder top in hand and the strapless jumpsuit I thrifted caught my glance. That pause of doubt crept in and I rebelled by wearing both together anyway, and I’m so glad I did.
Now that I’ve tried and love this combo, I have expanded the versatility of my wardrobe even more. I will be doing this style again with some of my other off the shoulder tops and maybe even regular tops for a quirky, casual Friday look at the office. All in all, I had a lot of fun with this look and I’m so glad that I pushed past the pause and tried it.
Is there a styling idea in your head that you’ve yet to TAP TO READ MORE
