“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.” —Oscar de la Renta
This quote really resonates with me because I really believe that you can have all the designer stuff, the latest this, and the exclusive that, but style is not something that you can buy. The everyday me is casual, but in most cases with a little something extra to express my sense of style. That’s just what I wanted to bring to New York Fashion Week and anywhere I go. For this look I took some thrifted (similar here) jeans and a tshirt from ASOS and leveled it up just a bit with two accessories.
Let’s be honest the suede fringe jacket is the star of this look and effortlessly added all the extra that this otherwise minimalistic jeans and tshirt combo needed. I’ve been obsessing about ugly sneakers aka dad sneakers for a minute and finally dived in with these Puma Electric Thunders. The little brown and orange accents on the sneaks tied in with the jacket and the red graphic on the tee nicely. If you like the look of dad sneakers, but want some that aren’t too “out there” these Puma Electric Thunders are great pair to start with (see more pretty dad sneakers here).

Lately I’ve been feeling adventurous with my style and not necessarily taking fashion rules, do’s, don’ts, too seriously. Fashion should be fun and make me feel great. I would rather leave my home fully confident in my outfit of choice versus wondering if I even styled this right. Often times I catch myself pausing in thought as I’m getting dressed in something I’ve planned days ahead. Lately I’ve been more conscious of that pause which is mostly the result of doubting and overthinking and deciding to push past it. So when I pause and overthink, I rebel against it by wearing the initial outfit idea anyways.
That’s basically what I did with this strapless jumpsuit and off the shoulder combo. I was looking for an outfit to wear to see the movie “IT” with the fam, with this Who What Wear off the shoulder top in hand and the strapless jumpsuit I thrifted caught my glance. That pause of doubt crept in and I rebelled by wearing both together anyway, and I’m so glad I did.
Now that I’ve tried and love this combo, I have expanded the versatility of my wardrobe even more. I will be doing this style again with some of my other off the shoulder tops and maybe even regular tops for a quirky, casual Friday look at the office. All in all, I had a lot of fun with this look and I’m so glad that I pushed past the pause and tried it.

As y’all know, wearing plaids for fall is a staple look, a given, a fall fashion OG you have to pay your respects to kinda thing. Often times fall fashion gets stuck on one type of plaid and it’s typically this one or this one. Then I check out and do my own thing because there’s a plethora of plaids to play with.

Denim is a classic that is definitely not going anywhere, still which each new season we find new ways to make it fashion fresh. A good indicator that any particular trend is blowing up is 1. All your favorite stores you shop/cyber stalk have it for sale, or 2. When fashion bloggers (myself included), influencers, are rocking them and/or talking about it. These four fall denim trends are definitely worth giving a shot.

Okay I may be exaggerating when i say you NEED all the plus size outerwear that I’m about to show you, but they are still FIRE! We haven’t even landed officially in the FALL season, but fashion waits on no one. When we’re in summer forward thinking fashionista’s (that’s us *fist bump*) already have fall and even winter on the brain. So does ASOS apparently and I’m here for all the plus size outerwear they’ve been dropping as of lately.
When it come’s to outerwear it’s essential that it is also functional. No one wants a pretty statement coat that doesn’t do the job of keeping you warm for the season. So with that said, I have no qualms about dropping my coins on at least one bomb piece of outerwear that keeps me warm.

As I find more fall/winter plus size outerwear, I’ll be posting them all on my Plus Size Outerwear Fall/Winter ’17 Board.
If there is any particular item that you cannot seem to find enough of, let me know in the comments. I’ll put my cyber stalking hunting skills to work and bring you more awesome curated fashion lists like this one.
Happy Fashion Hunting.

Styling plus size overalls is something that I’ve honestly never done . Honestly I’ve only worn overalls twice in my life that I can remember. Once as kind rocking my Osh Kosh Bigosh jumpers (as we call them in the VI) on a trip to Puerto Rico that I can hardly remember. I’m pretty sure I was around 3-4 according to the photos my mom showed me. The 2nd time was when I wore short overalls with a purple Winnie the Poo T-shirt and beads (roots to ends) in my hair. Venus and Serena Williams kicked off the bead trend and I literally was heard before I was seen with my mouth closed. I can still hear the sound of a what must have been hundreds of beads clanking in my hair at the slightest movement. I digress.
So it’s kinda cool to be wearing overalls again, but this time as a 30 year old on my own free will. I love the oversized vibes of these overalls that I received from YoursClothing and paired them with something not so expected. It’s very easy to look like the “stereotypical, jolly chubby farmer in overalls” but with a few tips in mind you can give them a sexy, stylish twist that is far from Farmer Bob or a school kid.
Off the shoulder tops and even mesh tops are great way to add a mature vibe to overall style. This is definitely a great choice especially if you’re rocking long pants overalls.
Separate yourself from adolescence with a classic white button up or even a preppy top with statement sleeves.
Whether it’s heels, sophisticated flats, or kick as boots are all great options to boost this look up a level.
Blazers, bomber jackets, denim jackets, and long line coats are all great ways to bring your look together in the fall and winter seasons. They give you even more styling options to such a versatile staple.
No matter what you choose to wear or how you style it it’s important that you OWN it. Comfort is the key to full confidence in whatever style you rock, but I hope these tips were helpful.
