So you know every time this year there’s always tons of posts on how to transition to fall style from summer style. It’s usually filled with recommendations for all forms of outerwear, from denim jackets, to blazers, to vests. All really great logical recommendations, but what if the weather in the state you’re living in just didn’t get the memo like hmmm idk Florida! Ha! As I enviously watch my fellow fashionistas whip out their outerwear and dare I say sweaters while I’m pulling out a makeshift fans to keep cool, it dawned on me. I’ve never really talked about how I transition to fall style when it’s still too hot for the traditional fall transition pieces.
3 Tips to Transition to Fall Style in Warm Climates
Light Breathable Fabrics
Outerwear is one thing I get most excited about when transitioning to fall style. My fall style mood board is filled with gorgeous outerwear options I’m patiently (not quietly) waiting to style. However, you might want to put the denim jackets, velvet, corduroy and other heavy fall fabrics on pause. Take it from someone that takes fall outfit photos in 80 degree weather. It’s definitely not so fabulous. Whatever you wear, make sure it’s light and breathable like this leopard print kimono I got from Walmart. It actually came with the black top underneath it too.
Classic Fall Prints and Colors
I may not be able to jump headfirst into crewneck sweaters or anything warm and cozy just yet. Trust me I’m tracking the weather as far ahead as I can hoping to see cooler temps. In the meantime I tap into fall style by wearing lightweight pieces in classic fall prints (like leopard print) and fall colors (olive green, warm oranges, reds, and browns).
Tippy Toeing Into Fall
It’s still a little too warm for full on fall boots here in Florida so closed toe boots will lead to sweaty feet in no time. I’m still wearing strappy heels and I might occasionally wear peep-toe boots just to give the piggies some air.
While some of us may have to wait for fall weather, we can still do fall style differently in the meantime.
