Can I wear these bodysuits as swimwear? The size of my butt and elsewhere (ahem we’re grown folks here right?), gave me pause. The last thing I want to do is be walking along the shoreline or poolside and my suit slips into a crack. I’m sure babe will enjoy it, but that’s not necessarily appropriate when others are around. You feel me? I digress.
I’ve been seeing some super cute bodysuits across these Internets and snatched this black bodysuit with pineapples all over it to see how it would hold up as a swimsuit and…
So YES you can technically wear bodysuits as swimwear, but here are some crucial keys to make sure you’re doing it right!
Bodysuits as Swimwear Tips
1. Choose bodysuits with the right material.
When shopping for your bodysuit to slay as swimwear, pay close attention to what kind of fabric/material blends were used to create it. The more similar it is to the material of an actual swimsuit the better. You don’t necessarily have to locate the deets on those little white tags to make sure it’s specifically a certain blend ratio. Once it’s a nice blend of polyester and a stretchy fabric like spandex you’re on the right track. Try to stay away from bodysuits that lack stretch. It’s likely that once they get wet, they’ll sag and won’t look flattering. If it has stretch and feels similar to a swimsuit issa go.
2. Know your size.
Swimsuits and bodysuits in general are very tricky to determine what size you should purchase. Especially if you’re primarily an online shopper like moi. On top of that some department stores have a “Final Sale” policy in which you can’t return swimsuits or bodysuits. It’s a serious struggle because sometimes these stores are not consistent with their sizing. Determine which size bodysuits are best suited for your body by looking at the size charts.
3. Beware of the white wash.
Haha I just have to laugh at my headings some time. White wash happens typically with graphic prints that are on stretchy fabrics. If you stretch them too far the graphic fades and looks well white washed. The body suit above does experience white wash when stretched too far. However I purchased the correct size (not too tight) so that’s why I don’t experience white wash in everyday wear.
4. Skip the snaps.
Imagine those snaps in the crotch region coming undone at the worst possible moment. Need I say more? No bueno. 🙂

Good, practical tips. I agree snaps in the crotch area is a risky move when wearing a bodysuit as a bathing suit. ?
